The International Military SAMBO Tournament concluded on 17 August 2026 at the International SAMBO Center in Moscow, bringing together 81 military athletes from 18 countries for men's and women's competitions.

The tournament featured a strong African presence, with six African nations Burkina Faso, Djibouti, Mali, Mauritania, Togo and Eswatini participating in the competition. African athletes demonstrated their growing presence in international SAMBO, with Burkina Faso, Mali and Eswatini among the African countries that secured medals.

The event was also attended by Major General Abdullahi Maikano, President of the Organisation of Military Sports in Africa (OSMA) and CISM Vice-President for Africa, whose presence highlighted the importance of strengthening Africa's engagement in international military sports.

The Moscow tournament represents another important opportunity for African military athletes to gain international experience and for SAMBO to develop further within the African military sports movement. It also contributes to the broader objective of promoting friendship, solidarity and cooperation through sport, in line with the ideals of CISM and OSMA.
