The African Military Judo Championship (CAMJUDO) is one of the major sporting disciplines included in the calendar of activities of the Organisation of Military Sports in Africa (OSMA). The championship was placed under the patronage and sponsorship of the former President of Algeria, His Excellency Abdelaziz Bouteflika. Its inaugural edition, originally scheduled to be hosted by Algeria in 2016, was postponed due to administrative constraints.
Nevertheless, during the African Military Games (AMGA) held in Abuja in 2024, judo featured prominently as one of the official competition disciplines. Military athletes from numerous African countries competed across all weight categories, making the event the first continental judo championship organised under the auspices of OSMA. Algeria emerged as the overall champion, closely followed by Nigeria, reflecting the high level of competition displayed throughout the tournament.
Another discipline that gained significant attention during the 2024 African Military Games was kickboxing, which also recorded a remarkable level of participation and competitive success.
Building on the achievements of the Abuja Games, the OSMA Executive is currently engaged in discussions with the Guinean Delegation regarding the organisation of the African Military Judo Championship (CAMJUDO) in Conakry in 2027.
