The African Military Boxing Championship (CAMBOXE), held in honor of H.E. President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, is a flagship sporting event of the Organization of Military Sports in Africa (OSMA). It promotes unity, discipline, and cooperation among African armed forces through high-level boxing competition.
The first two editions were organized under the International Military Sports Council (CISM), before OSMA became fully operational following its inaugural General Assembly in Algeria in 2008. A major milestone was reached with the 3rd edition in Conakry, Guinea—the first to be fully organized under OSMA—marking the organization’s effective takeoff.
Subsequent editions reinforced this progress. The 4th edition in Tunis, Tunisia, highlighted strong organization and participation, while the 5th edition in Algiers, Algeria (2018), brought together over twenty nations, confirming the growing importance of the championship across the continent.
The 6th edition, hosted by the Kingdom of Morocco from 14th to 22nd June 2025 in Rabat at the Royal Armed Forces Sports Centre, represents a new high point in the evolution of CAMBOXE. Organized under the aegis of OSMA and the supervision of the Royal Armed Forces of Morocco, the event brought together military athletes from across Africa in a spirit of unity, discipline, brotherhood, and fair play.
Beyond competition, the championship served as a platform for strengthening regional military cooperation, fostering cultural exchange, and promoting African solidarity through sport. It also reflected Morocco’s strong commitment to African integration and military collaboration, under the leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, Supreme Commander and Chief of the General Staff of the Royal Armed Forces.
At the end of this outstanding edition, Morocco emerged as the overall champion, winning gold medals across all categories, followed by Nigeria and Tanzania.
Today, CAMBOXE continues to grow as a symbol of excellence and a powerful tool for peace, cooperation, and mutual respect among African nations.
