The Government of Cameroon, through the Honourable Minister of Defence, successfully hosted the 7th Meeting of the Board of Directors of the Organisation of Military Sport in Africa (OSMA) from 14th to 20th October 2023 in Yaoundé.

This important statutory meeting, entrusted to Cameroon during the 8th OSMA General Assembly in Abuja, represented one of the most significant gatherings in the Organisation’s annual calendar. It brought together key decision-makers and stakeholders to deliberate on strategic reforms aimed at strengthening OSMA’s governance and operational effectiveness.

A central focus of the meeting was the comprehensive review and revision of OSMA’s statutes. Particular emphasis was placed on restructuring the composition of the Board of Directors, resulting in a reduction in membership from twenty to thirteen members. This reform was designed to enhance efficiency, streamline decision-making processes, and improve institutional performance.

In addition, the meeting introduced notable structural changes, including the elevation of Presidents of OSMA Liaison Offices to the rank of Vice-Presidents, alongside the abolition of the previously elected Vice-President position. These adjustments reflect a shift toward a more functional and regionally representative leadership framework.

The resolutions adopted during this session were both far-reaching and transformative, marking a significant step in the evolution of OSMA. Collectively, they contribute to reinforcing the Organisation’s foundations and positioning it for greater impact in promoting military sport, cooperation, and unity across Africa.
